FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Request?

Setting goals is paramount for personal advancement. The mission of The Options Network (TON) is to assist individuals in realizing their objectives. For example, financial support might be essential for acquiring vital resources like course fees or certification expenses. Submitting a “request” triggers the evaluation process by TON representatives for potential approval.

What are examples of items that TON would not consider for funding?

TON would generally not provide money for items such as rent/mortgage or utility payments, groceries, automobile purchase or insurance.

What are some examples of items that TON would consider funding?

The Options Network offers assistance in unconventional ways that may not typically be provided by other agencies. For instance:

-covering course fees

-reimbursing college book expenses

-providing tools or materials to acquire a new skill for starting a career, launching a business, or securing a job

-supplying uniforms or items required for a new job

-covering childcare or babysitting fees to allow time for job applications or entrance exams

TON is open to considering unusual requests; however, applicants must specify their goal, outline their plan for achieving it, and clearly identify what is needed to turn their aspiration into reality.

How do I make a Request?

A Request is primarily made electronically. For an overview and instructions on making a request, please click here.

What will cause a Request to be rejected?

requests made by or on behalf of a person under the age of 18

-requests for something that could potentially harm the Request recipient or another individual

-requests for anything illegal, as determined by local, city, county, State of Florida and/or US Federal laws

-requests that exceed TON’s available funding

-incomplete Request applications that require further information

The maximum dollar amount for a Request varies depending on the specific circumstances and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Typically, TON aims to limit funding to under $500.

How many Requests can I make?

A person may make multiple Requests, however, only one Request will be active at a time. Multiple Requests are acceptable for staged goals, i.e. 1st request for an entrance exam fee and a 2nd request for payment of a course fee. It is important to note that TON may not have funding available for all Requests.

Will I be able to talk to someone at TON about my Request?

For the sake of efficiency, TON primarily handles Requests through its online interface. However, in special circumstances, TON is willing to speak directly with the requester.  Please refer to the TON Contact page for more information.

How long does it take to receive funds once approved?

Once approved, it typically takes a few business days to process a request. Additional information may be needed to make an informed funding decision. TON strives to arrange payment promptly, preferably through an electronic payment system. However, if a check must be mailed, payment may take longer. Additionally, delivery or pick-up time may be required for specific tools or items. It is important to indicate the date the funds must be received in the appropriate field in the Request form.

What if my Request is rejected?

If your request is rejected, TON will aim to provide a general reason for the rejection. Additionally, TON may suggest making a new request with modifications to increase the likelihood of approval.

Will you share the information about my Request with anybody else?

All the information provided in a Request is only stored on The Option Network servers. Information is only shared with The Options Network Board of Directors and Officers that evaluate Requests for approval.  Information collected (i.e. no SSI numbers) in the Request application limit unwanted exposure of sensitive data.
